Should I Boost My Instagram Posts In 2023?

Boosting and promoting posts on Instagram and Facebook is a massive waste of time and, more importantly, money as you have a complete lack of control you have over your advertising, the money and the ROI. 😰

The Facebook Ads Manager is a free tool for advertisers to use to dramatically improve business - rather than boost posts and throw money into the wind 🍃

Debunking Boosting Posts Myths

🗣 "Instagram puts a notice under my posts saying it’s doing well - must mean something!"

The only reason Facebook or Instagram recommend it is because it has no learning curve, easy revenue source for them and in return you get an ego boost seeing 1000's of people like your post or visit your website. 🤦‍♂️

Boosting Posts Draining Money

🗣 "They recommend it to me so it must be good!"

We aren't saying it isn't effective. It is - but barely and hardly ever. Why spend $10 and maybe, if you're lucky, get $11 back when you can spend $10 and get £150 back AND learn a million things about your customer?

🗣 "What do you know? I’ve got great results from Boosting Posts."

Similar to our answer above, boosting posts can and will get you results. Sometimes it might even get you good results (unlikely but it happens). If you are content in the knowledge that are spending money doing something despite the fact that you know that your money can be better spent elsewhere then that’s your decision. Their is a very low glass ceiling to the results from boosting posts; it simply is not and will never be as good for your business.

If you really are serious about your business you would use the Facebook Ads Manager. The Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) from boosting is not even in the same ballpark as putting it through the Ads Manager.

What are you missing out on if you boost posts?

OBJECTIVES

Imagine a world where you can focus your Ads based on objectives such as Lead Generation, Conversions, Traffic, Catalog Sales, Store Visits and so much more. This allows Facebook to further optimise your ads to get you the best results.

SPLIT TESTING

Boost Instagram Post

Need to know which Campaign is performing better? Split test it. With Facebook Ads Manager you can compare campaigns, analyse the collated data and use that to boost your ROI. This should be an essential part of your advertising toolbox.

CUSTOMISATION

Ads Manager allows you greater control of where and when you want your ads to go out. Maybe you don’t want them displayed on Messenger or Instagram Stories but everywhere else. This isn’t possible through Boosting.

OPTIMISATION

Whatever campaign you choose, you can further break it down to specify exactly how you want it to run. You can run an engagement campaign and choose whether you want impressions, reach or something else.

SCHEDULING

Need your ads to stop between 5pm - 7pm every Tuesday (for some reason🤨), or do you want to create an accelerated campaign to garner the most results in a shorter amount of time? You can do this with just a few well-thought-out clicks.

MEDIA

Create in-app experiences or choose dynamic media that hooks the user. Through the Ads Manager, you can creatively display carousels, single images, videos with so much more freedom than you thought possible.

There are so many other benefits to taking 10 minutes extra to properly advertise your content. The last thing you want is your marketing manager, VP or director asking why the your paid ads campaign isn’t generating the best results only to find out you’ve been boosting posts.

The bottom line is: Serious businesses don’t boost posts and you shouldn’t either.
